Ana Lisa Hedstrom
Ana Lisa Hedstrom (b. 1943) is a textile artist who uses a contemporary interpretation of Japanese Shibori to create wall hangings and art clothing. She hand-dyes, then cuts and folds the cloth. This process creates a conversation between East and West, between traditional and contemporary.
Originally from Detroit, MI, she graduated from Mills College with a BA in Art. She has taught at San Francisco State University, California College of Arts, and University of Minnesota Split Rock summer program as well as Penland School of Crafts. Her work can be found in the collections of the Oakland Museum, de Young Museum, Cooper Hewitt Museum, and the Museum of Arts and Design.
