Dorothy Gill Barnes
Dorothy Gill Barnes (1927-2020) was a sculptor who worked in wood using bark, branches and roots as she weaved sculptural vessels, often basket-like, that incorporate the unique characteristics of wood.
She was born in Iowa and was living in Columbus, Ohio at the time of her passing. She received a BA and MFA from the University of Iowa. Her work can be found in the collection of the Museum of Arts and Design, the Museum of International Folk Art, and the Arkansas Arts Center.
