Isabella Pierson
Isabella Pierson is a designer and builder working in wood. She creates furniture, including tables, lamps, and more, typically integrating cut-offs, throw-aways, and scraps into her work whenever possible. Pierson designs a piece of furniture by removing the intended object’s non-essential structural elements, and then plays with its balance, proportion and visual rhythm to achieve her aesthetic. Pierson first began working with wood through a two-year program in traditional wooden boat building at The Apprenticeshop, then worked for three years at Rockport Maine, Inc. to gain more skills and experience on building wooden boats. Pierson soon after took a course at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship to learn the specifics to fine furniture.
