Jean Williams Cacicedo
Jean Williams Cacicedo (b. 1948) is a fiber artist who works in Berkeley, CA. She is most known for her wool coats that are pieced and sewn together. Inspired by personal myths and symbolic imagery, her work tells stories about physical and spiritual journeys. In her own words, Jean sees the world as “One of color, pattern, texture and form. The work I create comes from my desire to make what I experience both visual and tactile…Cloth has the ability to transform ideas and the power to seduce the eye and the hand.”
She holds a BFA from the Pratt Institute and currently teaches classes in her studio in Berkeley. She has also been a visiting artist at California College of Arts, Penland School of Crafts, and Split Rock Arts Program at the University of Minnesota. Her work can be found in the collection of the de Young Museum and the Museum of Arts and Design.
