Pat Courtney Gold
Pat Courtney Gold (1939–2022) was a basket maker influenced by her ancestors, the Wasco Indians. Her work was based on the baskets of her ancestors using the full turn twine technique but she experimented with different materials (cattail leaves, tule, dogbane fiber, cedar bark, tree roots, as well as chenille and dyed wool) and designs with similar patterns and motifs.
She was enrolled in the Wasco Nation of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Oregon. She received her BA in Mathematics from Whitman College and has taught mathematics and worked as a mathematician-computer specialist.
