From Peggy, our Getty Multicultural Intern
My internship has finally come to an end, and I now know more about craft than I ever imagined. During my ten weeks as a Getty Intern, I have learned so much about the difficulty of running a nonprofit and the absolute importance of cultural institutions like Craft in America. This experience has opened my eyes to a community of craft makers and lovers that I now cherish as an invaluable resource. Through this internship, I also got to visit a number of amazing institutions and organizations extremely dedicated to their mission and making Los Angeles an even better city. I am incredibly grateful to Craft in America for giving me this opportunity and everyone who has made these ten weeks one of the best experiences I have ever had. Fun side note: I went to the de Young Museum this week and saw two beautiful, hanging sculptures in one of their exhibitions. Without looking at the description, I recognized them as Ruth Asawa’s works, so I guess you can call me a “craftophile” now.
