An Evening of Listening
Join us for an evening of experimental and experiential pieces by sound artists, The Wind (Fil Corbitt) and Pattern (Theo Rasmussen).
The Wind: A few years ago, radiomaker Fil Corbitt found a handsaw in the mountains and built a small desk out in the woods. High in the Sierra Nevada, flanked by an aspen grove and a lodgepole pine stand, Fil makes a podcast called The Wind, a critically acclaimed show that investigates our relationship to place through sound. The Wind has aired internationally on 99% Invisible, Snap Judgement, + BBC’s Shortcuts, and has featured interviews with John Luther Adams, buZ blurr, Jessica Bruder (Nomadland), Gary Farmer and Joe Lally (Fugazi), among many others. After a tour in 2023, which included performances in Boise, Vancouver, The National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Glasgow and a sold-out show in New York City, Fil returns to Los Angeles to perform a long-form piece at Craft in America.
Pattern: using granular & toroidal wavetable synthesis as well as field recordings through a modular synthesizer, Theo reveals atmospheric landscapes, distortions, healing drones and punctuations in time.
