Veterans History Project Workshop
June 20, 2015, 10:30am-12:30pm
Learn how to record the stories of American war veterans for the Veterans History Project (VHP). Interviews and historical documents become part of the permanent collections of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. During the workshop, a trainer will introduce participants to the appropriate guidelines for preparing and compiling materials to be donated to the collection. The VHP is looking for contributions such as original photographs, letters, military documents, unpublished memoirs, diaries or journals, and artwork. This workshop is part of a series of events hosted at the Craft in America Center as part of our current exhibition, Active Hands: Craft by Soldiers.
The Veterans History Project’s mission is to collect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. To learn more, visit www.loc.gov/vets
