Laurie J. Hall

Laurie J. Hall studied under renowned jewelry artist Ramona Solberg at the University of Washington. She holds a BA from Willamette University and a MAT from the University of Washington. Hall has more than 40 years of teaching experience. Her work is shown in galleries across the country, has been published in several art books, and is included in collections at Museum of Arts and Design, the Tacoma Art Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Washington State Art Commission.

Her narrative jewelry uses objects from her own history and its pioneering American roots. Influenced by Ramona Solberg’s jewelry she began using found objects from her travels and started fabricating miniatures.

Narrative is the motivational key to her work, whether it is material, color or design. What interests her is the process of recombining what she views, telling stories or capturing a moment using a new technique, making a better composition. The driving force is her insatiable search to make wearable constructions that are moveable, portable works with content made with a variety of materials.
